State police say they're looking for the driver of a car that caused a fatal crash on the Adirondack Northway and then left the scene of the accident.
A man told troopers he was driving in the northbound lanes of Interstate 87 around 7:20 a.m. Sunday when another car rear-ended his vehicle in the Essex County town of Schroon (skroon), 80 miles north of Albany.
The man's car slammed into a guard rail, crossed the median, went into a ditch and struck an earth embankment.
Troopers say the man's sister, 65-year-old Mary Morrissey of Mechanicville, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say they're seeking a light-colored car, possibly a Toyota, with the letters "DWD" in the license plate.
The Northway's northbound lanes between exits 27 and 28 were closed for several hours after the crash.
